Logo Proposal for Doctest

Doctest is a framework which allows you to develop applications using TDD (Test Driven Development).TDD requires writing the tests first and refactoring the code to achieve the desired result.In this case, doctest will be used, which allows you to perform tests according to the documentation written in the code. It means that it is necessary to have a clear documentation for each function before developing it, so that it is clear the cases of correct functioning of the function and the cases in which it may fail.

Doctest is the lightest testing framework for C++.

INITIAL SKETCH

Proposal 1: In his application, the owner refers to the fact that he already had a previous logo, but he did not like it, from there I made a first proposal, this consisted of an improvement of the logo, to make a more modern version.

Proposal 2: The owner in the application refers to the fact that he wanted the new logo to represent 'lightness and speed'. The first thing that came to mind was a "Hummingbird" as it is a very light and fast bird. From there I developed the idea.

Proposal 3: This proposal was a combination of the first one presented to the client with a new hummingbird drawing (later I place an image of the idea).

IDEA FOR CONSTRUCTION

COLOR

In this project I presented two color options, a selection inspired by the Hummingbird, which combines blue and green tones. For the dark shade I decided to use blue (#39356c) and combine it with Apple green (#5ee045), a very vibrant color to give it contrast. And another proposal with a dark blue colour combined with a light grey colour in the same way as the previous one.

BENEFITS

As in any proposal, the main idea is to improve the image of the project, this is the case of Doctest. This design offers a new visual identity, is a modern and highly technical logo with a minimalist character with a great visual impact and adapts to all environments. The owner was very satisfied with the final result, it is a good contribution to the Github community.

TIPOGRAPHY

As the name of the project is composed of two words joined together, the idea in this proposal was to combine two different font styles to differentiate the two words but without separating them. An extrabold font for the first word and a slightly thinner font for the second word. In proposal No. 1 I used the font called Bauhaus 93, combined with the font called Calibri. In proposal No. 2 I used the Zurich UBlkEx BT source combined with the Calibri font.
