RE: My First Month as a Language Moderator (LM) at the Utopian/DaVinci Translation Project - Working Practice and Future Goals

You know... When you are watching some extremely good, trained teams, no matter in which sport, basketball for an example.

It looks easy and effortless, right? And it looks fluid as well.
It looks like anyone could play it, but we all know it's not the case.

Why? Well, because those people are pro, and they are polishing their skills for decades. They all know the game inside and out, rules, tactics, strategy...

Why does anyone think that it's different here, on Steemit?

To be honest - I don't know why.
But I see, constantly, that many communities are trying to make a Hollywood-like story about a complete amateur who became No1 in about a week. Such an approach fails constantly, over and over again.

When I started local language community on steemSTEM, I hand-picked the professionals and explained them a set of rules:

  • Go to Discord, read the guidelines
  • read them!
  • now follow them
  • if you plagiarize - you are out!

The results? Stable, harmonical community that is growing on sustainable bases. Zero scandals, several cases of new (ab)users, cut at the very beginning.

Is it a Hollywood story? Nope... It's too logical and predictable.
Does it work? Absolutely! And only that matters at the end
