Firefox Fenix: An advanced mobile browser with great features.

In my ten years of experience with mobile phones, I have used several mobile browsing applications. Some of them are proprietary, while some of them are not. Since I joined the utopian colony, my taste for proprietary applications has vanished. I'm not saying that proprietary applications are bad, or they don't have great features. It's just that I'll always prefer nonproprietary applications to proprietary ones.

A couple of months ago, I was going through the Apk mirror’s platform, and I found an interesting application. I was intrigued, so I went ahead to download it. The name of the application is Firefox Fenix, a sequel to the popular Mozilla Firefox browser. They are a lot of things I like about this application, and as you read this article, you'll get to understand more.

The Firefox Fenix is an open source browser developed and managed by Mozilla. Its main purpose is to provide a means for users to browse different contents on the Internet. The Mozilla Fenix browser was launched in December 2018. Since then, only two versions have been released. Though It has so many features that are not implemented yet, with the rate of commits its GitHub account is receiving, I believe they will be implemented soon.

I have used the Firefox Fenix for over two months, and I have set it as my default browser for my blockchain’s account.

The Firefox Fenix browser might seem common to most users, but believe me its a game changer. In the space of two months, I have seen more reasons why I should use Firefox Fenix browser frequently. Its user interface is unique, and it has lots of awesome features. One thing I like about the Firefox Fenix browser is; the ability to alternate between daylight and night mode. It is a feature that I enjoy very well. Its navigation bar is designed to hide automatically, and it is located at the bottom side of the screen.

Addresses and credit cards feature:

The Addresses and Credit cards feature is a wonderful feature though it is not implemented on the Firefox Fenix browser yet. Do you ever get tired of constantly typing your address or credit card details on a website? If yes, then the Addresses and credit cards feature is for you. The Addresses and credit cards feature enables users to store their addresses and credit card detail within the Firefox Fenix browser. Each time your Address or credit card details are required, you won't have to type it again.

Library feature:

The Firefox Fenix browser has a library feature where all its app menus are kept. Within the library feature, there are six different folders.

1. Sessions,
2. Screenshots,
3. Downloads,
4. Bookmarks,
5. Reading list,
6. History.

From their title, I'm sure you already know what type of files would be stored in them. Having the library feature is a great plus, but there's a clause. All the folders except for the history, and bookmarks are not yet implemented, but they are being developed. I know this because I have been following its updates on GitHub. However, when you click on the folders that are not implemented, you'll get a message notification that a request has been sent for the development of that feature. I don't know the developers made it so, but my guess is; they are running a survey for all menus within the library feature.

Within the library, there are folders that are not commonly found on other browsing applications. Like the screenshot, read list, and sessions. I have knowledge of the type of files that could be stored on the screenshot, and the read list folders. For the session folder, I have no idea of its file type but guess I will when it is implemented. Nevertheless, the bookmarks and history is a great feature that I enjoy very well.

Search engine feature:

From the title, I bet you've seen a search engine feature within a browser before. I wouldn't have reviewed this feature, but I love it so much. The search engine feature might look common, but it’s really different from the ones on other mobile browsers. Before I started using the Firefox Fenix browser which has seven different search engines, most browsers I had used had two or three different search engines. My favorite search engines are Wikipedia, Duckduckgo, and Google. I use the Wikipedia search engine to search for history related contents, the Duckduckgo is used for downloading contents, while Google is used for general browsing activities.

Conclusion:

The Firefox Fenix is an awesome browser to have. Though it is still in its early stage, I believe it has the potential to overcome most browsing apps. I commend the developers for the great job done so far, I pray they have all the strength needed to carry the project to another level.
