President Trump and his closest foreign policy advisors are likely to put pressure on European nations to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal just like the US did last week, by threatening to sanction EU companies doing business with the Iranian regime. This could be very problematic and lead to more tensions between Europe and the Trump administration, especially given that French energy giant Total last year singed a $5 billion deal to extract Iranian natural gas, as well as the fact Germany’s Volkswagen has resumed exporting cars to the country.
