Seattle, the first city governed by an openly gay alleged child molester.
It’s not looking good for Seattle governor Ed Murray.
Just out are records from the 1984 accusation. Oregon child-welfare investigator concluded that Ed Murray sexually abused his foster son in the early 1980s, leading state officials to assert that “under no circumstances should Mr. Murray be certified” as a foster parent in the future”, according to public records obtained by The Seattle Times.
Murray, of course, strongly denies ever abusing his foster son, and points to the lack of criminal charges against him as evidence of his innocence. But as the paper states, the newly disclosed records reveal that a Multnomah County prosecutor withdrew a criminal case against Murray because of Simpson’s troubled personality, not because she thought he was lying.
Simpson, the alleged victim WAS Murray’s foster son at the time, and is one of three issuing statements of abuse by Murray in this time period. It was a different time, in 1984, and sadly, these charges were not brought up to protect the youth involved from enduring the trial. NEVER was Murray’s innocence presumed. Sad.

Murray has decided NOT to run for re-election, but will not remove himself from office. Many in Seattle’s legislature support his decision.
