RE: New Statistics Reveal Over 200,000 Children Married In U.S. Over The Last 15 Years

in #usa6 years ago (edited)

Well, anonnews? I came across information somewhere on the Internet that was supposed to be from the Tahirih Justice Center and Unchained At Last that stated that 90 percent of all adolescent girls below 18 years of age who got married here in the United States of America were wedded to adult men over 18 years of age. I don't know how true that information is, because I am not a big fan of those two organizations. However, if it is true, it appears to mirror the statistic that NINETY PERCENT of teen fathers under 18 years of age bail on the underage mothers of their babies. When I was in high school, I once read an article in a local newspaper about teen mothers in middle school and high school and it appeared that many of them got married to men in their twenties and older, because their adolescent baby daddies bailed on them and even caused them to be bullied at schools. Many of these middle school and high school punks who pull a Levi Johnston on underage girls like that are the faces of justifiable patricide. The adult husbands to these 17-, 16-, 15-, 14-, and 13-year-old mothers ended up being the ones to help these girls pick up all the pieces, and these men supported their girls and their babies. Therefore, I really don't think that adult men marrying adolescent girls is what's causing major problems for our nation but rather deadbeat teenage fathers are the problem. Even if the number of adolescent female minors getting married reached the six figures during a time period of 15 years, it's not to say that most of these girls suffered abuse at the hands of their adult husbands. Meanwhile, our nation continues to turn a blind eye to the epidemic of deadbeat teenage fathers who ruin young girls' lives. Moreover, the Netherlands attempted to mirror their minimum marriageable age to their age of consent, which before 1990 was 21 years old. It was a terrible failure in the long run. The Tahirih Justice Center and Unchained At Last's efforts to do the same here in our country will prove to be a disaster in the long run. If these two organizations really wanted to do something constructive to protect the youth of our nation, they would launch a crusade to shut down the Church of Scientology instead.
