The Shadows In The Pond
The cast of the line
The plop in the water
Then waiting
Shadowy figures under the water
Slowly gliding like ghosts
What’s it like down there?
Peaceful and silent
But full of life
A pull on the line
Gotcha!!
Reeling in a gasping mouth
Now in an alien world
I won’t throw you back in
That’s too cruel
I lower you gently, carefully, with reverence
Into the sunlit waters
With a flick of your tail
You are gone
Back to your world of water and life
I’ll sit here a while
