Teen murdered by a classmate- media almost silent because of the races involved

in #usa3 years ago

The racism stuff in the USA has tapered down a bit thank goodness but recently we have a story of a teen, who was white, who was shot and murdered by another student, who was black. You might be asking yourself why you didn't hear about this story and why it wasn't completely blown out of proportion despite the fact that the 14 year old who was shot and killed is actually the child of a police officer and I don't think I need to spell it out for you.

Although the information is a bit sketchy as all of the people involved in the actual crime are minors, it is reported that the two were classmates and some are even saying that they were friends. The crime happened around 8pm and a woman who was walking heard gunshots and then saw two boys fleeing the scene, she later came upon the 14-year old son of a Houston Police officer who was unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. There would be nothing the hospital could do by the time he arrived.

The suspect, who was apprehended at his home without resisting is Bryan Smith, Jr and he is 17 years old. Charges are being filed against him (of the murder type) and he will be tried as an adult. I am not certain about the laws in Texas about what age you have to be in order to be considered an adult but in this case 17 is old enough.

If he did it and is found guilty, I hope they throw the book at him

Now obviously this is tragic and should have never happened. It doesn't matter the age, races of the people involved, or the circumstances, but I do find it a little bit upsetting that since the shooter is black and the victim is white, the national media paid almost no attention to this. The fact that the kid was the son of a police officer probably had something to do with why many liberal publications wouldn't touch it either.

Now I want you to imagine for a second that this was the other way around and a white guy shot some classmate who was black. This would be on the front page of every paper in the country and there would be roundtable discussions about systemic racism and it would be declared a hate crime before they even go to trial. The guilt would be assumed before any evidence was brought forwards and the township and the homes of parents of the shooter would be inundated with shouting BLM agitators.

But when it is the other way around... crickets.

It is actually pretty difficult to find out any information about this at all other that what the police department is releasing to the public because nobody in the media is even investigating it.

I don't want race to be a thing in our country but it is a little bit frustrating to me that when something as newsworthy as a teenager shooting and murdering a classmate happens, the fact that the media doesn't even want to talk about it says a lot about what their agenda is. The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Chicago Tribune didn't even mention this incident. Doing a quick search for specific terms shows almost zero national coverage of the incident at all. It is mostly local Texas news stations and publications.

This is the reason why I can't take any of the BLM or other race-oriented justice leagues seriously. They completely glance over an incident when it goes one way as far as race is concerned, but fail to even acknowledge the existence of events that go the other way.

If anything happens in the liberal media with this story at all it will end up being a gun thing and how it is somehow the gun's fault that this happened. They of course will not even talk about the fact that you can not legally acquire a gun at the age that the shooter is.

I think that they would jump all over this story simply for the anti-gun aspect of it if it wasn't for the fact that the shooter is black.

I am not a racist person. I do know some mildly racist people but myself and my friend will get on their case about that shit because it isn't cool at all and unacceptable in my world. However, i think it is perfectly ok to be anti-media because they are the ones driving this racism bus and it only goes in one direction.

A 17 y/o is an adult in Texas. They can do everything but sign a contract.

21 for alcohol is a federal thing. I don't remember about tobacco.
