End gun violence now. No more lame comments. Take action

I am very grateful that my family lives in a country where no political leader, of any persuasion, would stand up in a public place, in front of people issuing heartfelt pleas for real action to end mass killings in schools, and would suggest the solution is to arm teachers with concealed weapons!

It seems a radical idea to some supposed 'world leaders' but how about taking steps to ensure that the only thing going on in classrooms is teaching and learning. Let teachers be teachers and let students be students.

I feel sorry for my friends and colleagues in other places who see a different way but are lumbered with inept, corrupt(?) and morally bankrupt leadership. Ours here may not be perfect but there is certainly a clear line in the sand when it comes to what we as a nation will and won't accept in a modern, progressive society.

Let's hope sanity prevails and those with the ability to create change see that as the most worthy of legacies to fight for, even if it comes at the cost of personal political ambition. They will be a ratings success for decades anyway.
