In failing to assist Ukraine, it’s well and truly clear that the American era is over.

Dead and buried.

It’s unlikely that whatever replaces it will be even as good, much less better.

RIP USA, 1776-2016.

The party politics here are that the Republicans are on the wrong side, and the Democrats are neutral. Both sides are irredeemably lost.

In both world wars, the US was able to rally itself into not only providing direct support, but joining the war, redirecting the energies of entire economy to the war, effort, and making a multi year concerted effort with extreme sacrifice. Hi everyone.

The cost of the fighting Russia in Ukraine would have been absolutely negligible. In fact, it would’ve only helped the American economy, at approximately no cost. Intervening in the world wars was a major decision.

Now, the electorate can’t even pick a side.

And putting aside how insignificant it would have been to intervene and end the war immediately, none of this would even have happened if Biden, and Theresa May hadn’t explicitly taken a military response off the table in the run up to the war.

The world doesn’t even pretend there’s still a liberal order.
