The Unbroken Walls
I recently visited the old town of my city to photograph its streets, capture its alleys, and grasp the essence of its history. My country has recently experienced a terrible earthquake that has left several cities devastated. Fortunately, the structures in this historic district sustained minimal damage, and its residents are safe and sound. Even though I was able to capture an unusual beauty and tranquility in these images, the current context fills me with a deep frustration for not being able to do more for the victims in other cities. Nevertheless, my community and I are doing what we can to help those in need.
In the meantime, I leave you with these images of the ancient architecture, the alleys, the churches, and the old walls of my city's historic district. There is something grounding about walking through these streets, knowing that despite the fragile state of our country, these structures have managed to hold their own. It is a strange feeling to photograph such peaceful scenes while knowing how much suffering exists just a few hours away.
Your photos capture the resilience of this historic district beautifully, and I especially appreciate the contrast between the peaceful atmosphere and the current challenges your country is facing. 📸🌆
