Why Beg for Followers or Upvotes?

The urge to earn coins send some folks begging for followers and upvotes. I started off in that same direction but asked myself if it was worth it? I believe the site was created with a vision for members to post creative or useful stuff which can be appreciated by those who deem it interesting.
So i stopped and decided i will only like content that appeal to me and also follow those i think are worth following. Please don't like this post if you don't want to, only sincere likes or upvotes will be appreciated
