In our Venezuelan culture we have different traditional dances that are beautiful and picturesque. I’ like to talk about a very popular called "Joropo". This dance is from Apure (State of Venezuela) and we dance it in every corner of my beloved country.

The most popular joropo and that represents us as if it were our anthem is "Alma llanera" written by Rafael Bolívar Coronado. This is a Joropo Llanero, is characterized by playing with harp nylon strings, cuatro and maracas; sometimes the harp is replaced by the plains bandola.

Joropo is a musical style, also is dance. This brings together, happy and entertains people in every festival that takes place in each geographical area of the country. The figures dance that represent the joropo are the "valsiao", the "escobillao" and the "zapatiao".

The dressing

Woman uses printed dresses long or above the knees. Some with shipowner and silk. They wear espadrilles and on their heads they wear a dresser with different flowers and colors.
The man uses the "liqui liqui" traditional suit of the Venezuelan Llanos. He also wears a hat called "pelo e guama", trousers and espadrilles.

How dance?

  • Dance starts with the "Valsiao". In the waltz the couples embrace each other softly, crossing the dance space in three different times of the waltz, they go around fast in spiral twists.
  • The second part of the dance is the "escobillao". The dancers stand facing each other, move their feet in the manner of short advances and setbacks as if they were brushing the floor.
  • And finally, the "zapatiao". Represented by the manly figure, it is done with the couple taken by the arm or released. The man sounds his footsteps and the woman limits herself to a brush.

Now I want to show you how to dance the joropo.

You are equally good as @drqamranbashir, so both of you got 30% and you share the first place...

Thanks @tatjanastan. Popular culture is the most beautiful thing in a country. Thankful to participate in UPVOTECHALLENGE

The most popular dance in Africa {Azonto}

Over the past year, a new dance craze has popped onto the Ghanaian music scene and has been making waves across West Africa and beyond.
It is called "Azonto" and calls for dancers to sort of act out their occupation. It has spread out of Ghana and has become a rage in Ghanaian communities in the US and Britain.
This dance has gone viral and has been trending for years now, it’s very smooth in dancing, very relaxing and exercising, very exciting and fun filled

If you haven’t heard of it yet, I’m sure your Africans friends have. Pronounced, “ah, zone, toe”, kind of rhyming with “I don’t know” , Azonto is on its way to becoming one of the most popular dances world wide.
Originated in Ghana, Azonto is an expressive dance, where you can basically do what ever you want while moving to the rhythm. Some popular moves include mimicking the following activities: washing your clothes by hand, calling out a girl you find attractive, making a phone call, and boxing. Sounds humorous, but so does “the moon walk”, and that seemed to impress people.

Azonto has blown up on youtube. From tutorials, to skits, to music videos, to battles, to Azontoing in public across the globe, Azonto is penetrating the international dance market rapidly.

Instructional video

Have fun trying it out , you’d enjoy it believe me

This is cool...

This comment has made me a winner, thanks so much my friend but try the dance out. You will really love it

My goodness, the most popular dance in my country has to be the dance we call shaku shaku

Shaku Shaku dance is the latest step trend in the Nigerian music industry. And it seems people can just get over it. It has become a growing trend and for now, there is no sign that it will die down anytime soon

The dance starts with you standing with your legs astride. Then stretch your arm forward slightly crossed over each other. Then try to make a false or unfinished leg over movement to the right and then to the left. Your upper body will move slightly in sync in either direction of your legwork. Repeat the leg over movement at least three times on both legs. Then you will make a hand movement like you are pulling the cord of a generator. You can try various head movement while doing the leg over movement in sync. Finally, you do a quick squat once or two times successively while you pull out your legs as you rise up. Then you repeat the routine all over again

You can see how to in this video

Im not a dancer though i know how to move my body, but this dance, is a dance worth trying

You were quick about it my friend, I was gonna write about that

Fastest person gets all... :)

Might not be the fastest in this case but the best if you’d agree with me. The best comments wins
