Volunteers of All Ages and Nationality Rolling Up Their Sleeves!
It's less than 14 days till the big event of feeding 500 families with 1000 children in it!
Members from the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Petaling Jaya have graciously volunteered themselves to join in the fun to pack for the 500 families. It is quite a daunting task; not only we are packing for the recipients, we have to also prep up decorations for the stage, just like what we did last year.
(I think we might not have the giant teddy bears this year)
(Then again, a thousand children seeing the giant teddies might be a tad bit hard to control)
Nevertheless...
Despite we have tons to do, rearranging the items and counting them, we have decided to lessen the burden of the recipients by re-packing 10kg rice into individual 2kg packs. We have received feedback that last year the buses and vans did not do a door-to-door stop for the recipients and some of them have to walk at least 100m deep into the houses so carrying a huge bag of rice plus the food bags on them is a no-go.
We are truly grateful that each volunteers did not utter a single complain but dedicated hours of their rest day yesterday (Saturday) and worked hard to get as many rice re-packed as possible. Even children joined in to help, and we believe this helps cultivate a good moral upbringing and exposure for them as the world is not as materialistic by the touch of a finger on the screen as it seems.
We are still opening to kids who have now started their school holidays to take a day over to help the food bank and to understand the needs of other children as well.
Speaking of decorations...
Our muscle-men volunteers are brewing something with their carpentry skills, outside the foodbank, but we can't show you how it looks like until it is fully done.

In the mean time, @littlenewthings have agreed to help out to compile a slide show for our 2018 activities with the help of Bonfire team as @angeljames and her are trying to pick the right song from their new creation album.
This is the very first time Bonfire is creating an album in digital copy for 7 SBD (or MYR30) and their net proceeds will go straight to the needy homes in East Malaysia. Please contact @angeljames or @littlenewthings (to relay the message) for orders.

Its real nice to know that children are also involve in the volunteering process. This will go a long way to build some good morals in them to always help others.

Yes that is the whole idea.
These days, children are very protected in a enclosed environment (of gadgets and games).
One of the kids who volunteered last year said that because of the Food Bank he now knows that there are many children out there who doesn't always get what they want.
