Here We Go! Setting Up Drop Off Stations
Saturday.... it came and past quickly
After we went through all the nifty details and have agreed on the costing, we set out to decorate all our drop off points with print outs to tell people where to drop off their donation items for the coming Christmas Luncheon
We have set up 5 different drive through stations for easy drop-offs in Glad Tidings Petaling Jaya, simply because having the places closest to our main Food Bank storage will save time and effort during collection. It was also good as the congregation there comes in on Saturday and Sunday celebration services to commune with one another and in worship.
One of our drop-off points are at the front area where the office is and also the Glad Shop where reject / off season items are available for sale, so that people can just drive through during week days after work to deliver their donation goods.
On Sunday, the first items to come in were essential items for families. As many have seen the requirements to prepare for 500 families, oil and food items were found on Sunday itself.
We were very excited to see it when we went to check on it after 1pm
One of our volunteers, a foreigner who recently lost his job decided to devote more time to help out while trusting God to open new doors with work permit for him, and his wife and child now spends more time helping to keep the Food bank clean, while we continue to provide them necessity until Vijay could find a more permanent job.
Some home fellowship groups are very creative as they packed all that is needed into a bag and left it there.
As I am writing this, we are now clearing up space to recalculate the collected items to ensure that all items are in a balanced set, and we are still praying for more donors or Steem exchangers to step in to help.
@littlenewthings has graciously help making a survey through @dses to seek fiat-exchangers for us and also for another charity organisation, Bonfire organised by @angeljames in @steemXP and hopefully, through the survey there will be more people aware the needs of these 2 major event in both East and West of Malaysia and there will be enough people to join in to help make this happen for the less privileged families and children.
Once again we would like to thank @adollaraday , @fundition, @teammalaysia , @steemxp and @dses for getting the word out and inviting everyone to pitch in help in however they can.
May the gates of heaven open over your project as you work toward meeting your goal of providing food for the 500 less privileged families.
May God also bless your volunteer with his work permit.
