The Aswang is one of the most prevalent creatures in Philippine mythology. They come in many forms and shapes, some can fly and some cannot. Others shape-shift into giant boars and there are those that seduce men.

Yanggaw or Bag-ong Yanngaw are newly-turned aswang. Aswang sa Kalibonan are among the oldest of their kind. Kiwig live as a person but changes form at night into a dog, boar or large cat. Mambababoy are aswang that prey only on pigs. Mandarangkal seduce men before eating them. Kubot have long hair that they use to drain the life essence of their victims. Aswang na Gala are psychic vampires that prey on sick people. Agalon Hayopan are aswang that raise crocodiles to hunt humans. Tigabulak hunt children and carry them on the sack on its back.

Some aswang have mananaggal like qualities such as the ones described in Iloilo.

Mangalok hail from Cuyo, Palawan it comes in at night and pulls out its victims entrails. The mangalok then transforms a banana stalk into the likeness of its victims corpse and then perches on top of it's victims coffin while bearers are carrying it, laughing invisibly and nibbling on the liver of its victim.
