RE: Puting Mga Kamay - A Poem on Imperialism
Wow! Such passion and patriotism expressed in just a few verse. I felt the long term longing for freedom on this one, sad as it may be but our beloved country's been gripped with colonial mentality it has become the norm, signature bags, branded t-shirts, imported chocolates. What about "sariling atin"? I loved the poem!
Maraming salamat @jamesanity06. What's happening to our country and fellowmen is really sad. Being controlled by something with a higher power is no good. But I think if Filipinos start to love their own, everything will follow. So sad that even the language we mostly speak is not ours.
It's the sad truth 1,000 years of slavery and colonialism affected our ancestors' way of thinking and we carry on as if nothing's wrong, as if it's the right thing to do to survive, we're still enslaved until now, making our heroes's sacrifices for naught. But yeah, there's still hope for the future generation, like in schools, there'e this new subject called "Mother Tongue" in elementary, I hope this will create a spark in our almost dying patriotic spirit.
Wow! That is interesting! Would love to sit in to that subject even just once. I hope younger generations will be able to not just spark but create a fire to bring back that patriotic spirit.
