With the newly appointed Secretary General of the United Nations former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres confirmed, interest now moves to which country will head the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.France has held the Head of Peacekeeping Operations since 1996, but there is a considerable push from China to take up the post. Meanwhile Russia is rumoured to be seeking the head of the Department of Political Affairs.
