#Unity Divinity Week - Chosen Goddess: Kuan Yin

Introduction

Recently, I was asked by @ellievallie to join a group on Discord called Unity. I have found the group to be very sweet and I am meeting new people everyday. Our group is currently participating in a weekly writing, and the subject is to choose a God or Goddess we personally relate to, are inspired by, or worship.

This subject is a very personal one as this is a part of my spiritual awareness and can be quite sensitive. We live in a world where the words magic, spirituality, wizards, elves, shaman, realms, etc., are rarely discussed. Unless the people have been, what we call Awakened. For us the terms I just wrote are commonplace.

I have had certain “gifts,” since I was a child but blocked them out for many years. It was not until I received a cranial massage nearly six years ago that something was triggered within me. From that point on, I accepted my path and I have continued to grow steadily in spirituality.

That said, I would like to share with you my most sacred and favorite Goddess Kuan Yin. As you can see from the photo I shared with you, I own pieces of art and other things that remind me of this lovely Goddess. I am very happy to share what I know of Kuan Yin and what happened to me the day Kuan Yin came to me on that massage table. First, I would like to give you some history on Kuan Yin.

Kuan Yin

In Asian culture Gods and Goddesses have many names for the same soul. As a Chinese Goddess Kuan Yin is no different. Her names include Kuan Shih Yin, Quan Shi Yin, Kuan Yin, or Kwan Yin and means “Goddess of Great Compassion or She Who Sees and Hears the Cries of the World.”

Kuan Yin is a Bodhisattva, which is a Being of Bodhi or enlightenment, and who is destined to be a Buddha. Kuan Yin temporarily has given up Nirvana with a vow to save humanity. It is not until the day that all the cries of humanity are appeased will Kuan Yin move forward to the next realm.

It is believed that Kuan Yin carries the same energy as the Virgin Mary in Christianity. Kuan Yin is an Ascended Master and one of her jobs is to sit on the board of the Lords of Karma. In Tibetan Buddhism Kuan Yin can be seen in male form as Avalokitesvara. In many images Kuan Yin is holding the pearls of illumination, pouring a stream of healing water “Water of Life,” or holding a sheaf of rice or bowl of rice seeds that means fertility or sustenance. A dragon is usually seen in a symbolizes high spirituality, wisdom, strength, and divine powers of transformation.

When one contemplates Kuan Yin tends to lead devotees towards becoming more compassionate and loving themselves. A deep sense of service to all fellow beings naturally follows any devotion to this Goddess.

Kuan Yin has been depicted with children surrounding her and is commonly known as a helper of children. She is also known to be the patroness of fisherman as she is usually shown walking across a sea or standing on a lotus or with her feet standing on the head of a dragon.

Kuan Yin has also been seen to have a thousand arms and many eyes, hands, and heads. In this form, she is the omnipotent mother, looking in all directions at the same time, sensing the afflictions of humanity and extending her arms to alleviate them with her unending mercy.

The stories of Kuan Yin’s help is endless and the promise is, if you call on her she will come to your aid instantly. From personal life experience, I can honestly say the stories are true. I am happy to now share my story of Kuan Yin and I.

Kuan Yin and I

Let me begin by saying I recall many things from my childhood, things people call high sensitive. It runs in my family and tied to my bloodline. There are many of us out in the world and we either live with it or hide from it. At the time of my meeting with Kuan Yin I had gone through a very bad relationship break-up and now as I look back, I was open. Open to a new way of life, open to a new challenge, open to new possibilities. It was my birthday and I usually treated myself to a day in New York City and a nice massage. I chose a person I had never seen before to work on me. As it turned out he was a true healer and what I call a Master craftsman. Nothing is coincidence.

As I lay on his table listening to the healing music, I chose to let go. Letting go is essential in spiritual growth and allowing Light to come in. Yes, dark can come in but most times we have our protectors in place and the dark will not come in at those times. So, as I layed there and allowed Spirit to fill my senses and to “hit” that special magical place -- I saw her. Kuan Yin.

First, I have to admit I was a little freaked out but I allowed the greeting from this special Goddess. I get a little emotional just thinking about what happened next. In my mindseye I saw her holding me as an infant. I was wrapped in her purple cloak and she was looking down at me. It was one of the most amazing feelings I have experienced. I was looking in on a past experience -- a memory -- she was showing me not to be afraid. The feeling within me was that full of so much love I could hardly contain in within my human body. The next vision I had was one of me seeing her as I was, in the Now.

Kuan Yin looked upon me in her purple robe and looking just as her photos, grand and beautiful. One of the most beautiful and gracious. She reached out her arms and asked me to come to her for a hug, how could I resist? I nearly ran to her and cried almost uncontrollably. I felt my physical body reacting and starting to weep. I stopped myself from crying as I still was very unsure as to what was happening to me. All I can say is that my soul was so deliriously happy that it was near ecstasy.

The connection Kuan Yin and I have is probably like many who love her, and that is one of pure love. My relationship in those beginning moments of Awakening were so intense that I can call on those feelings now and be completely happy. I try not to abuse my spiritual connections and grow as I should as a soul living in my human skin. That is what I call it.

Conclusion

If you have ever doubted going to Gods or Goddesses for assistance in times of need, I encourage you, maybe even implore you not to doubt yourself and run into the arms of your helper.
