Unicef and Gridcoin

in #unicef6 years ago (edited)

Over the last few days, there have been a few reports on the latest method of UNICEF to generate money through donations from Ethereum mining.
I support the approach to get another source of donations. However, I cannot understand why it is essential to use ETH.
In my opinion, a connection with the Gridcoin community would be more sensible in two respects.
Each Gridcoin is generated by the voluntary participation in certain projects of BOINC. These projects are trying to solve scientific problems. For example, there is the possibility to run simulations of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN or to have the search for cures for cancer on the home computer . For this purpose, the CPU and also the graphics cards (optional) are used for the above mentioned works, while the PC is not used.
In addition to providing financial/material assistance to the poor in crisis areas, the generation of donations would also advance important research work for other needy people.

An actual win-win relationship.

I added a note to their Discord about Gridcoin, the answer was that its hard getting all the needed approvals in UNICEF, but it was not a 'no'.

Indeed @scalextrix. They got an approval for ETH so it should be easier to receive it for GRC as well when considering the benefits to mankind.

Thanks for preaching my man. Keep us updated if you get a confirmation by making a post :)

I'm going to hit up some local charities to do the same as soon all the recent fork issues have been fixed.

Tell everyone who will listen :) Im hoping the side staking project works out, that would be ideal for charity donations.
