If you are looking for enlightenment from a government on this issue then you are barking up the wrong tree. Another good book to read on the subject is Gord Downie's (formerly of the Tragically Hip) book The Secret Path about a 12year old boy, Chanie “Charlie” Wenjack, who died while fleeing from the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School fifty years ago.
We have to do it our selves. Stop the hatred, the abuse, and violence towards them. Look for healing and understanding.
I agree. Reconciliation will come from each individual, not the state. Lots of stories like Wenjack. :'(
