Unfulfilled Promised
Her eyes watered as she spoke incoherently "Oh- God, you mean to say I am not going to get married again."
Like magic, she tried to stand and the ladies assisted.
"Cherry , what you say, Feather dead..., carry me let me see for myself."
Carol turn towards the top of the yard. Then she shouted"Ruby, Ruby", then she stopped and awaited her daughter.Ruby came running "Yes mama".
"Go turn off the stove, you can take out your dinner and eat, do not leave the yard I am accompanying Miss Grant to find out if Feather really dead"
"Can I come?"
"No, you're a child and you have an examination, next month, go and study, " Ruby instructed.
All left the yard. Cherry walked beside Miss Grant while Tony and Ruby followed behind. The police siren, flashing headlights and the yellow tape told the story.
The whispers were loud and they like stones at Miss Grant.
"A she that", she heard. "Oh, a she is the finance" As they came to the police officers, one of them asked," Is anyone of you related to any of the men who were attacked?"
"Me, sir," said Miss Grant.
"Come with me, Madam," said the Officer.
"Is he dead, sir?"
"I cannot answer that question, I am not the doctor", remarked the officer.
He opened the Police car and both Miss Grant and Cherry went in. Then they were off. Meanwhile Tony and Carol stood listening to the comments.
"Tony, my standing here cannot bring Feather back and if he is not dead, it looks like he is critical. If I were like Miss Grant I would not marry a man in critical condition.
"But what a promise!" said Tony.
"Let us go home, this is an unfulfilled promise", Carol answered.
