The games which we love: Undertale

I've heard Undertale has a shitty fanbase, so I have tried to avoid most of Undertales fans. I found Undertale after it grew a big thing and I had very little faith and interest in the game, but I tried it as someone very sincerely recommended it for me.

After the slow start of 20-30 seconds I was amazed by the game. I was happy to do so well through the very friendly and easy tutorial, which was an easy introduction to the basics of the game. Afterwards I understood, that the tutorial was far deeper than I had originally understood.

The game starts telling about a past war between humans and monsters, who used to live side-by-side. The monsters were defeated and sealed underground. The hero of the game happens to walk into a cave and falls down, without being able to find a way back up. It's not a big surprise, but most of the game you spend trying to find a way back up. Rest of the time you are on a date with a skeleton.

One of the great things regarding the game is that you can complete the game without killing anyone. Sometimes you need some special tricks, but I think the game is best when you do not kill anyone. If you kill everyone though, you might have a bad time. Please do not do that.

The battles are built smart, even though towards the end the basic battles might get a bit repetitive, but the boss battles are mostly genius and have a great variety. The battles have smart jokes along the way, making some chuckle. If you don't laugh, you're a bad person.

The game atmosphere is well built, as long as you manage to survive a bit ugly graphics. I can't honestly know if the music is really good, but I have a strong emotional attachment to most of the songs, so I think they are amazing. You should never believe a fanboy, as in the end, the whole game might suck and I can't just see it. Who knows, at least I don't.

Personally, I think Undertale is a truly genius game. It can give most players a deep thoughts and more importantly, feelings. I could not play through the bad time, as I didn't want to see everyone.. or anyone get hurt. I know it is a game, but I would feel bad about myself if I would force myself to hurt anyone on the game.

The game takes me this far. Outside of the room I was told to stay, at least

The story of the game is not that brilliant, as I've seen better stories in games. But in this (less than 10 hours for me) time of gameplay, I was happy to have met this story. The game had more depth than I originally thought, so it wasn't the overall quality of the story but how the game could surprise me along the way made me delighted.

If you want one, grand thing from the game which will not spoil the game but make everyone delighted, it's the dogs in the game! Who wouldn't love dogs?

Undertale was a game which ruined the gaming for me for a long time. After playing the good ending, I couldn't play any games for a while, as they didn't make me feel anything. Undertale was the game for me which helped me once again understand how games can make us happy with something else than getting the most kills or otherwise winning everyone else.

Most people who I have met and have played the game have had similar feelings. You shouldn't expect something extremely amazing and superb in traditional way or you'll find yourself disappointed.

But still I would say Undertale is one of the modern games we all should play. It might take only as little as 6-8 hours to finish the game with the best ending and never needing to look back. So far, you cannot experience anything similar to this anywhere.

Just as long as you don't kill anyone.
... and manage pull the right switches.

Hey @apsu!

A couple of years back, I watched one of my friends do a play through, but I didn't understand the concept much back then. I love super creepy games, so I think this one deserves a second shot. Fun fact, the boss battles for this game were remade for fan charts of the songs for Stepmania/open-ITG, which is a customizable open-sourced Dance Dance Revolution/In The Groove game. The songs are hella hard, I've had the misfortune of trying to play them.

Undertale is not really a super creepy game, I don't at least think of it as one. I think it's just a super nice and awesome and great game, at least when you play it through "right" by not killing anyone. :) And you should give it a try if you have extra time!:

That dancing one looks really fun! Of course I think that "Wow I would do really good in that one" but I'm not that sure of it...

It would definitely be fun try playing without violence. I bet it's difficult, but still possible to do c: I'm sure that you are secretly a dancing god. I'm pretty stoked to pick this up as my next game to play, thank you!
