RE: ULOG 121 - My bee hotel & mini contest to win 5 SmartVote shares

What a sweet idea. I Love Bee hotels. They also look really cute. I have a friend who is a beekeeper and he gave me a hive last summer. I thought the bees were dead but turns out they were only hibernating. Imagine my joy when I noticed high activity again. Here's hoping we get some honey soon. It's so lovely to see so many bees around my garden. I will try to take a flower photo but I have just left home and won't be home until later tonight

Wow that's cool! These few recent years I noticed more bees in our garden thanks to all the flowers I added, especially when the Stevia is flowering. I'm planning to have a native bee (Tetragonula carbonaria) hive at some point but they are costly so it needs to wait a bit.

No worries for the photo, you have 6 more days :-D

Oh, I'll have to look into the native bees! We do have some up the road (a wild hive) in a redgum tree, they've been there for years.

Oh cool, I'll be bombing your post with ALL the flowers, lol. I have some beautiful irises about to flower - they are almost black - a really really dark purple. How good is spring!!!

PS do you know many other Australian gardeners on Steemit?

There is a technique where you add a pipe to the entrance of the natural hive that leads to your own hive. So that in order to enter their hive they have to go through yours first. Then some of them might decide to setup a new colony inside your hive and you would then separate it after a while.

@bearone has a garden and so is @bobaphet I believe

Cool thanks. Really interesting information and I will follow the links that you sent me. It does seem that the Americans have the monopoly on gardening and homesteading comma maybe it is because we just don't have as many Australians on steemit. It is fairly harsh at this time of year when I want to share excitement over my garden and it would be good to have all the strains to do that with

We need to do more #promo-steem on Instagram etc... many people sharing their garden photos there.

Gosh I hardly ever go on Instagram anymore. I have tried to promote it but just get crickets so it kind of bores me to do that. I really think it is up to the owners of the platform to promote it as everybody else is doing everything they can to make it a good place to be

Which platform?

  • Steemit.com is a beta product not initially designed to be the final interface to the Steem blockchain.
  • The Steem blockchain does not really have an owner, unless we consider the witnesses that are hosting it the owners.
  • Maybe dapps should contribute to the marketing by advertising for themselves and indirectly for Steem

However, coming from the dapps would sound like a scam to normal people: "Earning free $ from just posting and upvoting, no way, too good to be true". But coming from actual users (us Steemians with presence on other platforms) that others have been following for years it can raise more interest.

Yes that's true. I guess I was being flippant and a bit jaded.
