#Ulogs Day 3: Children's Day: Raising Godly Children

Children's Day was celebrated in grand style today. We were taught/reminded about four key things necessary for bringing up good and Godly children;

Prayers
Pray with your kids and pray for them. You are closer to a child you pray for and pray with. You get into their hearts with your prayers and therefore you have good influence over them.

Set Standards
Decide how you want your kids to turn out and set standards in your home. If you don't, your children will set their own standards and this may be detrimental to them in the long run. Your standards help the kids know what to do per time and even when they grow older they won't easily depart from it.

Involvement
Are you involved in their lives or are you an absentee parent? Don't meet only their physical needs, but meet their emotional and spiritual needs as well. Be intentional about them. Be involved. Explain wet dreams to your young teenage boys and menstruation to your young girls. Don't let them have to find out from the wrong sources. Parenting is sacrificial and not usually convenient. Don't leave the kids to house helps only, you must supervise and be very involved.

Training
Are you proactive or reactive in your training methods? If you are proactive, you teach them ahead to decipher what is right and what is wrong. But if you are reactive, you react to their errors and mistakes. Shouting consistently and beating kids is mostly reactive. A proactive parent makes friends with the kids and prepares them for adulthood by talking with them and educating them on any issue they are curious about.

Wow, beautiful. There is no limit to what a child can do. When I have my kids by the grace of God I will make sure they are taught how to play musical instruments, it's just beautiful.
How children are trained really matters, becacuse it will have effect on them for the rest of their lives, if it's good or bad, if they are badly trained and grow up to consciously try to change somethings they might still just subconsciously do somethings which is as a result of poor training.

I totally agree with you. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he grows he will not depart from it.
