I actually did use steempeak to post and the markdown I used displayed fine when I use steempeak to view it. I assume you are talking about enclosing the comments.
What front end did you view it with?

When you write code try to enclose it with triple " ` ".
Also I would suggest you to use steempeak.com for reading and publishing. Steempeak has excellent UI and UX.

Interesting I just viewed on Partiko and saw the comments bold.🤯 I guess Partiko displays the markdown I used differently that steempeak.
