#ulog 13: Successful Convention Despite Heavy Rains

The scheduled 3 days regional convention started last Friday until today, Sunday. This 3 days event only happened once a year. But the convention, also coincide with bad weather bringing heavy rains and floods.

The encouraging part is, despite the bad weather, and even experiencing flooded roads going to the venue, also in the venue itself is also flooded, the brothers and sisters has the courage to still continue attending the event. Whether young and old, man and women they are very bold to face this challenges just to be their in the venue and hear encouraging talks and videos from the bible base talks.

As the theme for this year which is "Be Courageous!", they applied it at once and never you can see any regrets and worries in their faces. They don't mind if the roads are still passable or not because of the increasing flood levels when they go home after the convention. They still have their kingdom smiles and positive outlook in life.

Personally, this is the first time attending a convention with this kind of situation. At first I was worried if I can pass in the flood water and soak my feet, to think that I have wound in my foot, which is dangerous that I might got infection or leptospirosis. The car can't enter the main gate because it is already flooded. So the last option is to park the car outside and just walk. So not to soak my wound, I put plastic and seal it tight. But still that is not 100% assurance that my wound can't reached by the water. Good thing a tricycle driver approached us and told us that he can drop us in the main gate without walking in the flood. So we grabbed at once his offer even paying him 10php per head. What a relieved, that my wound was not soaked in the water.

Truly, a rewarding weekend for me, hearing a timely and encouraging talks that I can used now and for the future. That what ever happens, we are not alone!

But also hoping that the rain will stop and the water floods can subside fast, because there are many victims that are still stranded in their way home.
