ULOG Memories: My Magical Vacation in an Arab Country Part 1
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to @surpassinggoogle for being such a generous man and is ready to help those who are new to this amazing platform like me.
My Magical Vacation in an Arab Country
It was June of 2012 when one of my most unforgettable memories happened. For me, I never thought that I would be in this small but wealthy country for a short vacation. I always tell my friends and family that this holiday of mine was one of a kind because everything looked magical to me.
Qatar is an Arab country and comprises of desert and a long Gulf shoreline of beaches and dunes. Its capital is Doha known for having futuristic skyscrapers.
Behind me is an Islamic Cultural Center, commonly known as Spiral Mosque and located near Doha Corniche. It's now called Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, named after the famous Qatari Islamic scholar and the founder of the Qatari judicial system Sheikh Abdulla bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud.
This picture was taken in a parking lot before we headed for dinner in Souq Waqif, a market or commercial place.
Inside the Souq Waqif whose home to dozens of restaurants and Shisha lounges...
After our dinner, we headed to Tornado Tower, also called the QIPCO Tower. It is a high-rise office skyscraper in Doha. This building has 52 floors and stands at a height of 640 feet (195 m) tall.
Just beside the Tornado Tower is Doha Tower, also known as Burj Doha. It is also an iconic high rise tower located in West Bay, Doha, Qatar with 46 stories and a height of 232 metres (761 ft). It changes its color from white to orange but I wasn't able to capture it.
While we're on our way to city center, we saw this building known as Zigzag Twin Tower. It is also called the dancing towers and are the highest and largest residential zig-zag twin towers in the world.
Indeed, Qatar will always have a special part in my heart. How can I forget this country? Someone special invited me to be here and see the beauty of this magical place. Being someone who came from a tropical country and is used to seeing vegetation, it amazes me to see how this Arab nation was able to survive in a desert, built modern architectures, and be the most advanced Arab state for human development.
Definitely an achievement for me to witnessed this other side of the world.
Love lots,
Jhoe
