ULOG #044 : Natural Medicine " Kamias or Averrhoa Bilimbi" the most natural and effective bleaching agent under the sun?

in #ulog6 years ago

But first, feast your eyes on these lovely fruits taken prior to the latest typhoon. There's still some that were left but not as much. Time have also played its' part as they start to ripen, they just fall to the ground, ignored and wasted. Unless they are preserved as jams and made into vinegar, there's not much usage that we can think of and utilise every fruit.

As a commonly souring agent for "sinigang", a kind of pork or fish stew in the Philippines, that is the only food preparation that we have used KAMIAS in the house. Although friends have mentioned it being prepared as a side dish, pickled or eaten raw, that's not common in our place. We can only dare eat the baby kamias as they are slightly sour.

My mom when washing our dirty whites before, she tend to soak them with the KAMIAS EXTRACTS to make them whiter and stain free. The stubborn stains can be directly applied and rubbed on, it always worked. Colored clothes can suffer as the area around the stain can go lighter. Don't leave the squeezed fruit in your clothes as it can leave a discoloration, this will be difficult to remov. As a child, we used them as a cleansing agent to remove those hard to reach dirt on our nails. Just dig those nails in and voila!

To check if they are also effective in removing our kitchen sink's top stains, strips were manually rubbed over the kitchen top. Or perhaps anyone can try using a blender and use the pulp to easily rub them over.

Pre-kamias...from this,

to this.

Dare anyone to try?

A peroxide-packed fruit

I got looks at the house, but what impressed them the most?

In an article where it specified that this fruit is rich in peroxide, enamel discoloration was noted. Used in experiments for dental bleaching, results were positive.

In this context, I had to do my own experiment with the extracts using my bedroom toilet's bowl. Juice were extracted manually and let it dripped over the bowl, then left alone for 30 minutes. I was bemused and amazed with the result.

Anyone can try this at home and see for yourself.

Some CAUTION though if you do try this as a tooth bleaching agent, the acidity is quite strong that it can make your gums and the inner lining of your lips sore. They can bleed too if very severe.

Packed with health benefits

Listed as an antioxidant and an antihelmintic, the benefits from this fruit, its' leaves, bark and roots are innumerable. Recently, @sherylneil made a post about it here. Please do check it out.

Wow @immarojas, this fruit is amazing! Where is it native to? We could deffinately use some of these here in Peru.
#ecolife

Tis can be found in Asia...India too so that includes Mauritius. It's tropical so they could thrive in Peru. You want some seeds? This tree is older than me so ive never planted one.☺

Oh that's a cool fruit! Never heardbof it before this is the first time. Once you said that it is rich in poroxide it made sense it can do all thos stain femovals.
