ULOG #016 : Walk of Hope Update, @flabbergast-art and Friends at Silliman University July 21st 2018

Just a heads-up

Kuya Marlon aka @flabbergast-art mentioned to me 2 days ago that he was invited to talk about @walkofhope in Silliman University today in Dumaguete City. Included in the itinerary is for them to play his indigenous instruments as well as introducing them to the students.

So, did he bring our banner?

He promised he might.

As of this moment, I have not heard a word from him, am just hoping that either it's ongoing or he can't go live in Facebook.

Promoting Walk of Hope and Steemit Philippines in Silliman University

Travelling from Bayawan City to another city with all of his instruments without any car is sort of a miracle that bringing our banner is literally an extra luggage. To be honest, it needed a bit of persuasion on my part for him to bring it. In actuality, @flabbergast-art is a bit embarrassed to his friends, Tatay Dagsa and another creative from Bayawan.

Imagine putting this banner on stage or at the door or even at the gate of the university.

As i've always said, any banner speaks volume and it speaks for itself. Given the chance that there's no time to interact with people, them seeing it is enough. A GLIMPSE IS ENOUGH.

Silliman University is the first American university not only in the Philippines but the entire Asia.

Established in 1901, it is the pride of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental. In the university homepage, it consists of about 9,000 students from 44 countries of the world.

A friend took @flabbergast-art and I around the campus last month and I must say it's a very laid back school where students seem like in high school in their civilian clothes. It's sprawling 62 hectares seemed a bit daunting and imagine being late for class!

The buildings are old, wooden and still standing, although one building was being renovated as we went inside. Due to time restriction, we missed checking its' library as apparently, a lot of the old coins of the world can be found inside.

Although the Philippines have a lot of colleges and universities, Silliman also draws other Filipinos across the country to study here. I must say that personally, with a high percentage of board passers coming from here, it must be a great place to study from. The tuition fees are a bit pricey but if the folks can manage it, why not? Plus the fact that this island is rich in beautiful places to go to and the nearby islands, it's a great place and very conducive to learning.
