It was yet again a busy day at World Vision for Education and Development (WVED) Cameroon. I arrived at the WVED compound a little early today but after a few minutes, the LitClub children arrived and while we were enjoying a little game of questions and answers on general knowledge, the other LitClub mentors arrived and we kicked off with the program of the day.

Today, the boys had a core activity whichrequired them to use their individual characters and attributes to come up with a story in which they all used these individual characters in a team to reach a common goal. It was an exciting exercise and as usual they came up with some pretty good stories. This exercise was their main activity for the LitClub session facilitated by Facilitator Roy and myself.

They also listened to a short story titled "Marble Champ" by Gary Soto. The story revolved around Lupe medrano, an academic genius who had won many awards but was very poor when it came to sports. She decided to win a trophy in sports and so entered a marble competition in her neighborhood. She was poor in sports so had to work effortlessly to win it. In the end she did win the competition and finally tasted glory in sports. The LitClub kids were then asked to state lessons they learned from the story which they did brilliantly.

Then came the time for our PeaceClubs and a simple check in question they kids answered was how the knowledge of peace was helping them? They gave beautiful answers ranging from stopping them from getting into fights to acting as peace makers wherever they found themselves.
Their core activity required them to come up with their own slogans for peace which they did. An example was:

In life, peace is all we need because there is no life without peace
~Fru Neba Peace

Madame Helvecia Takwe also took out time to educate the children on phase two of the My Body Program which seeks to educate the children on Child abuse. The lesseon for today was centered on not doing the things that are wrong when we feel deep inside that it is wrong. Often at times, we do a lot of things that are wrong even when we feel deep down that it is wrong. So this lesson encouraged the kids to always try their best to fight off this attitude.

We rounded the day with eating, dancing and wonderful melodies as usual and everybody went back home smiling and exhausted.
It was a great day full of exhaustion of course but i enjoyed it anyways.

@hermannsol, Good to know that you've initially carried the session with the Question and Answer. And i really liked the point of way means, Education should be fun and it should not develop the fear. If we see in this world then many Educational Systems are developing the fear instead of fun way of Education.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂
