#Ulog| Day 26 - To Tierra Santa + What We've Got From Their 37th Annual Parish Fiesta
It's a lovely Saturday trip to the place we once lived. A 20'sh minute freeway drive to Tierra Santa is worth it. Both dad and I were looking forward for whatever it is that we'll be bringing home. What did we get? That is in this #ulog post.
We almost missed the date of the parish fiesta but with the power of online search, glad we found out that it is this weekend. With dad waking me up early letting me know he wants us to leave passed 8 am, although I've aleady said it won't start until 11:30 am, there's no saying no. I prepared bread, juice as well as coffee to bring with us and off we go after my baby Nissan was filled up. Mom's time of waking up isn't until around 10 to 11 am so it would just be the two of us.
Arriving there at 9:20 am, we got a perfect parking spot, under the shade and just close at the stairs leading to a path and to the back entry. There were only few cars parked when we arrived, most likely the volunteers. Getting up there, yes, there aren't much people yet aside from the volunteers setting up their booth.
Stairs leading to a path. Path leading to all the booth. It looks like mighty high but it's only 22 steps
There's no crowd yet being this early, and there's even only few of the volunteers around. All the greens from the garden booth seems to begreeting us as we approach.
We couldn't both help but stop there and check the plants they have. Maybe finding one or two that I like? There are plant support still on display but taped with a note of being already sold, a lot of plumeria branches, 2 or 3 hanging baskets with flowering plants, tomatoes, a lot of succulents and few miniature garden baskets which I think would have been a lot better if live plants were used instead.
Next to the plants are furnitures. Even being on the second day, there are still a lot and all are in good conditions. I was somehow expecting there would only be few left, but of course that memory of last year's parish fiesta we visited was already the 3rd day, which is the last day - less items to choose from, over half price. Still is morning, this for sure will be crowded in the afternoon just like the previous years.
TO THE BOOK SHOPPE
They have all the books and other stuff in the same spot from last year, walking around the tables checking the items that might be of interest and finding nothing that interests me so far, I headed on the book section. Flipping pages of kids book, comics amongst other books, I found one Chicken Soup For The Soul and although I may have this book already, I still decided to get this one. It's less than $1 and just in case I for sure already had one at home, I could just maybe give this to someone, or sell it.
Getting done there and leaving with a total of $12 spent. We headed back in the car to leave the stuff we just bought before coming back up in the area. With dad finding a filing cabinet and woods he decided to buy, and another walk back up there to leave the baby caladium I transplanted yesterday to bring here, I lost count of how many back and fourth trip up and down the stairs we did. But it's a good exercise isn't it?
A walk around the food section, we were greeted with, I think some type of sage planted on the left side of the path leading us back on the booth area, I decided to stop and took few shots of the red flowers favored by bees as they buzz around flower to flower while I take some photos. It was noon time and with the sun, I didn't do justice on the lemony scented red flowers.
Well, that's about it. We didn't buy food or snack since we snacked in the car while waiting for the time earlier. With the stuff loaded in the car, we decided to head back home, but first, a stop by at the park.
I was looking forward for the jacaranda in full bloom so I can take photos to share here but clearly we've been late. Turned out those jacaranda trees here flowers early than the ones we have back where we currently living.
With all that, I will be ending my ulog post at home with what we've bought.
