This day started as usual, I started my daily walk to the waterfront got the news walked around for a while then came back home to watch the Europa League games, but I then noticed on one of the online Honduras newspapers that the team from my hometown which is in the second division was playing here against one of the two teams La Ceiba has in the second division. Now I haven't gone to the stadium for years, last time was in 2013 when Xolos de Tijuana which was then champion of Mexico came to play a CONCACAF champions game, I went and there was a terrible thunderstorm, the game hadn't started at 9:30 pm so I went home, the game was played and ended around midnight.
Well I decided to go to the stadium, the ticket was cheap about two dollars, the stadium which has a capacity for about 20,000 people had at the most about 400, reasonable as it is second division and it is a week day. Anyway the game started and it was real boring, especially when the home team was able to get a goal from a goalkeeper mistake (I'm rooting for the other team), and then when just starting the second half they got another goal so we were two down.
When it was the 40th minute second half my team was able to score a goal, and then the referee gave 7 minutes overtime, fair because the home team faked a lot of injuries. On the fourth minute of over time my team scored the equalizer so I was very happy, only to have the home team score the winner when the game was short of about 20 seconds.
I was really upset when I left that stadium, over five years of not going and having my team lose in the last seconds is certainly not a good feeling, I think I will probably stay away from that stadium another five years.
