Fantastic, @wwwiebe! There is nothing better than your eating own harvest. The Husband used to ranch beef, but I'll take his word for that - it was before me! lol
On the carrots in containers: I did try it and it wasn't very successful. You could look at raised beds - that would give you more depth than containers. We also have clay soil and struggle with carrots so I have great sympathy!
I am definitely thinking of a raised bed. The biggest issue is getting my lazy butt to get one and put it together!
