Today I am going to share how to make Chicken Tinola Recipe with malunggay leaves and papaya wedge. Chicken Tinola is one of the famous recipes in the Philippines. Traditionally this dish is made up of chicken, mixed with unripe green papaya and malunggay or siling labuyo leaves. This recipe is originated from my beloved country the Philippines. I remembered in my hometown this recipe prepared during the postnatal of a woman since papaya and malunggay are rich in vitamins and minerals. It can bring back the energy of a woman after delivery of a newborn baby. It increases the milk production of a mother who chooses to breastfeed her newborn.

My ingredients in Chicken Tinola Recipe:

  • 1 kg chicken
  • Malunggay leaves
  • Unripe green papaya
  • Lemongrass
  • Green Chili
  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Fish Sauce
  • Cooking oil.
  • Ground black pepper
  • Seasoning

Procedure in Chicken Tinola Recipe

  • Wash and slice the chicken.
  • Peel the green papaya, wash and slice.
  • Wash the malunggay leaves and separate the leaves.
  • Prepare a cooking pan, add cooking oil and heat.
  • Saute the garlic, ginger and onion until it turns to light brown.
  • Add the chicken, saute with the ingredients.
  • Pour the fish sauce according to your taste and stir.
  • Pour water, cover and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Once the chicken becomes tender add the papaya wedge cover and simmer for 8 minutes.
  • Add the ground black pepper, green chili and seasoning, simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Add the malunggay leaves, cover and simmer for 3 minutes,
  • Take from the cooking pan and serve hot.
