#ulog : Sewing To Make A Living

Hello Uloggers,

It's been awhile how are you all doing? I have made this ulog today to tell you how I got back to sewing again. That is hand sewing which is required by the contractor.

This photo shows the kind of products we work on. Basic requirement to get this part time home job is you should be able to sew impeccably using your hands. It is not easy but it is fun.

Today, I was searching for something to do that will help bring in some money. Yesterday was back to school for the students here in the Philippines. That means we parents are also back to making ends meet because it is the start of paying tuition fee, student daily allowance and transportation and a lot more school related expenses. I met by chance the same contractor who gives me this kind of sideline. She told me there are new projects on the pipeline and they are looking for help.

I wasted no time and went with her so I can start sewing. I took home one big kit of raw materials and started working. It is the same kind of kit, we are doing applique on a quilt. That's the part I need to do. Someone had assembled the quilt already it is now my turn to embellish it by painstakingly seeing a piece of design into it. Then I get paid a small amount per quilt. Piece rate kind of earning.

I don't have an issue with this project because I am comfortable working on it from home. I do it if I feel like working not much pressure as this is just a sideline. I am very happy this opportunity showed up when I needed something to help augment our income.
