Uganda to start taxing on all mobile money transactions, you just got another reason.

The Uganda government is proposing a new tax on each mobile money transaction made.
Looks like most people have just gotten another hit on the head, you see since we started using mobile money services in Uganda there was a big shift in the easiness of all transactions in the whole of Uganda.
Taxes are all over the place, I remember when they started taxing 15% from all sports bet transactions, my friend who used to like passing some time in sports betting got a hit. Probably most of us never saw this coming. did you?

So what's about this tax anyways?

There will be a deduction of 1% on each transaction made on mobile money services.
let's look at how many services we use daily for mobile money.
1.paying electricity bills.
2.water bills.
3.school fees.
4.sports betting.
5.paying for airtime and internet data bundles.
6.Bank withdraws to mobile money .
7.Steemit withdraws, yes we use mobile money.

If this proposed tax is passed by the parliament, that means it can start with effect form very early July.
Did i say these taxes are going to affect even deposits? because they will.
Depositing, sending and withdrawing. You are going to pay that one percent my friend.
One percent looks a small amount but ask yourself how many mobile money transactions can you make in just a week?
Leave alone the fact that we receive that money already taxed from various taxes that we sometimes forget.
And for the start it maybe just one percent, this is 2018.
We can all predict these taxes by 2025. trust me, it won't remain a mere one percent.

What's the convenience?.

I think the government has a solid plan,
Just that.
Everything is going to become more expensive by one percent or more.
When i receive this money after all other taxes like Pay As you earn, NSSF, and some other taxes that we sometimes share, l have another one percent deducted, my mum in the village is sick and I have to send her some money, the government and the network taxes will be deducted.
When my mum withdraws, she too will be charged the one percent. that's about it.
I made a calculation and I realized that the government takes about 10% of my money in my daily mobile money transactions. To some people it's less and to others it's more. Either way when you add this to the network company charges, then will you notice a big change in the final balance.

Something to notice
Have noticed that a few people still use the availed bank services?
I rarely use the bank because mobile money has been so cheap and very convenient. You too could be like me and many others, we are a very big number by the way.
Would you go back to the traditional Bank services if these taxes cause too much discomfort?
This may discourage a lot of people from using the mobile money services, sincerely it will be much cheaper to keep your pocket change right there in your pockets than leaving it on mobile money account.
