ACHIEVEMENT 3 by @pixiepop| TASK: Content Etiquette

in #uganda3 years ago (edited)

Hello lovely people. The purpose of this post is to complete assignment 3 where I am supposed to write about plagiarism. I have done a bit of research by reading through articles by @thecryptofiend,@steem.history,@steemcleaners and hopefully I am able to articulate what I have learned in this post.

Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own.source

Plagiarism can happen in different ways; directly through one copying word for word another’s work, using one’s photos without permission and also indirectly through paraphrasing one’s work but not giving credit where due.

Plagiarism is prohibited generally because it is an infringement on the intellectual property of other people’s work which can have dire consequences like lawsuits.

However on Steemit Plagiarism can ruin one’s reputation on Steemit as originality is valued on this platform. Posts can be flagged if plagiarism is detected. Sometimes mistakes can be made though where someone does it unknowingly, in such instances the post can’t be deleted however the content can be changed to show the post was deleted.

Plagiarism can be prevented by citing the sources of the work.

I have read and understood the Steemit etiquette on Steemit community and will do my best to embrace them.
