BE YOU, STOP FAKING YOU

in #uganda3 years ago

Hullo fellow steemians,
For the love of our growth i have decided to look at this topic, not because am so informed but because i have experienced it and also seen people around me suffer with self belief.
Be you, stop faking you is just a statement but it holds value once you look at it critically.

First let me share a story my Dad told me
My Dad had a friend in school called Kevin, Kevin's Dad and my grand father were neighbours. Both families were not rich, they struggled with life but always found ways of surviving. While at school Kevin always acted the cool kid. He wanted to show people that he was from a well off family, so that he can fit in with the rich students.
Time reached and Kevin left home to go and stay with his Rich Uncle in Jinja town because the situation at home was not favouring the life he wanted.
My Dad remained in the village because he had no rich uncle anywhere.
During holidays, Kevin started driving his Uncles car to visit his rich school friends, this made him so famous at school when the term resumed.
They finished school but Kevin had not performed well but he was not bothered because his rich uncle would provide him with everything he needed.
My father and his other friends joined University, finished and graduated. Kevin refused to join University because he thought he already had what other guys were looking for.
My got a job and after one year he bought his own car (second hand mark II), Kevin still insulted him for buying a cheap car yet for him he was driving a Mercedes Benz.
Too bad, Kevin's Uncle died that same year and the bank came to claim his car and house for the many loans he had accumulated.
At this point Kevin realised that he was living a lie and always faking himself.
Am yet to ask my Dad where Kevin is now.

LESSONS

  1. We waste a lot of time trying to be someone else than you would take to make your own self better
  2. We lose out on many opportunities that dont find us in our true selves.

Today i had to share this short story with you.
hope you enjoyed reading it. please share it with your friends.
i love you all
