The power and influence of social media today

Forget the ancient times when the mode of communication was too backward and rudimentary. People had to receive communication using weird techniques like blowing horns, running distances to inform others and some used to attach notes on messenger birds. We are way past those times now.
With the invention of the internet and social media, platforms like whatsapp, facebook, twitter, Instagram and many other social media platforms have emerged today. News travels faster than a wild fire these days whether good or bad. And it doesn’t matter your location, your age or anything, social media has helped shape our world today positively.
Social media can be defined as applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Various people today have used social media as a marketing tool through websites like olx, Jumia, ebay, shopify and have been able to attract more customers towards their products and as a result, have increased their numbers in sales over time greatly.
Social media is also often used for crowdsourcing. Customers can use social networking sites to offer ideas for future products or tweaks to current ones. In IT projects, crowdsourcing usually involves engaging and blending business and IT services from a mix of internal and external providers, sometimes with input from customers and/or the general public.
