The 1998-99 Champions League was the 44th version of this tournament, and the seventh season where the name of the tournament was changed from “European Cup” to “UEFA Champions League”. It was held between 16 September 1998 and 26 May 1999.

24 clubs competed in the tournament. 85 matches were played with 238 goals scored. An average of 2.8 goals per match.

Four clubs were able to qualify to the semi-finals; Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Dynamo Kiev.

The final game of the tournament was held in Camp Nou, Barcelona, in 26 May 1999 between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
The English club was able to win the the final game 2-1 with a goal in the stoppish time by Solskjær.

It was the Second European title for English giants and champions Real Madrid.

“Andriy Schevchenko” from Dynamo Kiev and “Dwight York” from Manchester United were named the top goalscorers of the tournament, scoring 8 goals each one of them in the 1998-1999 UEFA Champions League.
