The following is not financial advice.

Welcome to back The Scoop!

This is the next post at a place where we share analysis and opinions for interesting coins, tokens and pure gems in the vast landscape of the blockchain world. There's so many coins out there, but not a lot of free information (looking at you, paid groups) and analysis on them. The Scoop aims to change that by sharing and improving the data available for a given coin.

What is Ubiq?

It's a platform for smart contracts and dApps-- they do "Smart contracts for an automated world". Being a fork of Ethereum, it tries to take its good stuff and add a few more things like set monetary policy, Flux difficulty algo and others. Aimed at FinTech, it also has some interesting tokens running on top such as $APX, $DOT, $QWARK and now $GEO.

Quick Technicals

Algo: Dagger Hashimoto
Block time: 88 seconds

Where's the wallet?

Whitepaper TBD

How many of them are they?

CMC says ~39m circulating supply.

Who's the team?

Team is decent with the head guy Julian working on projects like Bittrex, Blocktech and Decred. So the fundamentals should be solid there, but the rest of the team rounding out more blockchain engineering, community management and investing.

How is Ubiq different?

It's new, it's frankly cheap for what it does and what it plans to do and it's got solid folks behind it. Growing from the ground up to be a successful project is usually a very good sign. More and more big projects are coming to the chain and that's quite good for growth.

Pros

  • solid team
  • room to grow
  • new projects coming on board
  • picked by lots of old schoolers

Cons

  • market competition
  • reliance on momentum

Where is it traded?

It is listed on key exchanges like Bittrex and Cryptopia.

The Final

Based on the FA, UBQ looks like a low to medium risk with high reward potential if they continue to deliver and catch on. Picking it up under 30k sats would be bargain or under eight dollars would be an upper entry while still expecting solid gains.

And that's your scoop!
