A Case for Universal Basic Income

So earlier today I was scrolling through a news app on my phone and stumbled across an article saying that nearly 49% of all Americans struggle to pay all their bills each month. I also saw another article stating that within the next 10 years the elderly homeless rate was expected to triple! I dont know about you but i think both of those are completely unacceptable! There was a study in England (don't know exact year) where 13 homeless men living on the streets were given a basic income from the government for 1 year to see what they would do with it and just kind of left them to do their thing... now the researchers and myself included while reading said study figured they'd go spend it on booze and crack, but a follow up with the 13 men 6 months later concluded shocking results.. more than half of the 13 men were no longer homeless and the remaining men had jobs and ranked their quality of life very high. Higher than the average non-homeless working person.

Study after study and test pilot after test they all come back with spectacular results. A man in canada almost exactly 2 years ago was homeless and on unemployment just barely scraping by. He was randomly selected out of Canada's homeless population to recieve 500 dollars a month. Not only when the text concluded did he have a job but he also was extremely happy with life and even developed a passion for painting. His life improved so much since he didnt have to worry about money that he discovered a passion! (Now I dont know about you but I still havent discovered any kind of passion so far)

Universal basic income could prevent the elderly population in that article from becoming homeless. A universal basic income could ensure that 49% of Americans could actually afford to pay for housing and feed their families. Universal income could lift so many out of poverty indefinitely. I know I barely scrape by after the monthly bills myself and I know for a fact that a ubi of even $200 a month would be absolutely life changing for me and my fiance who are struggling to get afford Bill's while I work full time and she goes to college and works a part time job on the side. Universal basic income would be life changing for so many people and so many families. The US being the richest country on Earth could afford and should implement such a program.

That brings me to my next point is crypto ubi. There are several cryptocurrencies that are doing or are in the process of creating a decentralized universal basic income. Mannabase has been making weekly distributions since 2017 and is the leader in the sector and was also the very first. Etoro just announced they were sponsoring a Universal basic income crypto called "Good dollar" that's currently in the planning stages. Steem has steem basic income. Myubi is a cryptocurrency set to make daily ubi crypto distributions of $1.50 starting in March 2020. Martin Luther king jr. , elon musk, Mark Zuckerberg, jamie dimon and Andrew Yang all believe in and support a universal basic income program. The most influential people of today and yesterday support it... why doesnt the lower class or working class support it?
