76 years ago, on February 19, 1942, an event that we know little about was taking place in the beautiful Canadian city of Winnipeg. And the event is sign. Suddenly several hundred soldiers of the Wehrmacht fled into this city at the dawn of Canada at dawn. Recall that at that time Canada was in a state of war with the Third Reich. The local police, unknowingly, did not resist. She was disarmed. On the streets were patrols of soldiers in German form. Above the Winnipeg was the Nazi swastika.

76 років тому, 19 лютого 1942 року, в чудовому канадському місті Вінніпегу відбулася подія, про яку мало знають у нас. А подія є знаковою. Зненацька до цього міста в глибині Канади на світанку вдерлося кількасот солдатів Вермахту. Нагадаю, що на той момент Канада перебувала у стані війни з ІІІ Рейхом. Місцева поліція, заскочена зненацька, опору не чинила. Її було роззброєно. На вулицях було встановлено патрулі солдатів у німецькій формі. Над Вінніпегом замайоріла нацистська свастика.

All the officials were arrested, and total arrests of Jews began. At the same time, many people willingly issued known to them Jews unexpected invaders and tried to cope with the new authorities. Some of the arrested were shot. The inhabitants of Winnipeg, who were informed of the abolition of all civil liberties and the setting of a curfew, quite calmly perceived a new reality.

Були заарештовані всі урядовці, а також почалися тотальні арешти євреїв. При цьому багато людей охоче видавали відомих їм євреїв несподіваним загарбникам і намагалися вислужитися перед новою владою. Декого з заарештованих розстріляли. Вінніпегці, яким повідомили про скасування всіх громадянських свобод і встановлення комендантської години, досить спокійно сприйняли нову реальність.

The Nazi occupation of Winnipeg ended just as suddenly as it began. "Nazis", the role of which played volunteers, went from the city, all the arrested were released, "shot" - resurrected. It turned out that it was a show action, held in agreement with the government, to show the Canadians what it would be if the Nazis really seized their country. For cooperation with the occupiers, nobody was punished. This scene, called If Day, marked the beginning of a large collection of funds for the needs of Canadian soldiers who really fought the Nazis in the Old World.

We do not mention this performance. But in vain ... History has a striking ability to repeat ...

Нацистська окупація Вінніпега закінчилася так само раптово, як і розпочалася. "Нацисти", роль яких зіграли волонтери, з міста пішли, всі заарештовані були відпущені, "розстріляні" - воскресли. Виявилося, що це була показова акція, проведена за погодженням з урядом, щоб показати канадцям, що було б, якби нацисти реально захопили їхню країну. За співпрацю з окупантами ніхто покараний не був.
