I think you can get by quite well without insurance, but here health insurance is imposed on you. It’s compulsory. If you don’t take out insurance, you’re still insured, but you won’t get anything reimbursed once your first 850 a year is used up, and then you still have to pay the bill, which of course keeps mounting because you don’t know that you have insurance imposed on you by the state, which is also the most expensive insurance.
You can still manage without a passport, especially if you’re not going anywhere, and you can vote here with an old one too. Although you might wonder whether people should even bother voting at all, as those votes are thrown away anyway. Can we manage without bank cards? That’s a good question; so you might just about manage with one, after all, you do need to claim your homeless benefit. These days, that’s probably no longer handed out in vouchers or a bag of cash either. If you manage without homeless benefits or any income, then of course you can easily do without a bank card. Many people don’t have a bank card these days, because you don’t need that thing, and if you have an online bank account, it saves a lot of money in any case.
And how much does a person actually need?
When I look around at the food donation boxes, there’s always something to eat to be had if you walk past them, and there’s also a charity shop in the village, but they have clothes, bits and bobs, everything really – just no large furniture.
But then again, you don’t need a piece of furniture if you don’t have any belongings, are travelling, or live in a very small house.
It’s strange to realise how we’ve missed our chances, but that applies to every generation; only a few manage to make it.
