I grew up in and out of my grandfather's newspaper, and back then we used an old LinOType to set type for the paper. But for wedding invitations, prayer cards, etc we used an old Platen Press. The type had to be set by hand, and we had a big old wooden frame with little boxes full of type. All the fonts were labeled, and man does this bring back memories. That press was over 100 years old, and we had some oddball fonts that hadn't been used in years.
