Happy New Year! Last year was bizarre and eye-opening to say the least. The pop culture and political factions along with them are having an existential crisis with good reason; Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies have made investors fortunes comparatively overnight by copying and simultaneously somewhat invalidating central banks; while in the the fields of science Artificial intelligence, more seamlessly integrated prosthetic implants, cheap and efficient energy sources and self-driving cars are all in their beginning stages. These things have already begun to affect how some people live and work and they promise to affect many more.
Though I find myself eager to share insight there is no direction I can point you in or secret I could tell you to avoid these challenges entirely. What I aim to provide instead is a coordinated effort to record and react to the developments of the modern day. Technology and society have grown and so too our actions capacity for positive and negative. Every variable we ignore could be hazardous or a neglected golden goose.
The social unrest perhaps is just part of the growing pains of humanity. What is required is relevant information to give us context and equilibrium. If you have ever seen the Oculus Rift prank on youtube you understand the effect on stability believing inaccurate information can have. We can not expect anyone source to give us the full story or even fully accurate information. Multiple perspectives are necessary for peripheral objective understanding.
Here we are and who knows what comes next? Economics, Technology, Science, and policy affect how we work and live and these fields change more with each day. Together we will explore the world Currently, Historically, Scientifically, Socioeconomically with hopes that we can ride the winds of change rather than simply be swept up in a storm.
