[ Father Time - Writers Block Poetry Contest Week 4]

this is a poem in reponse to the Ralph Waldo Emerson poem about flurishing life.

Futility is the fight to build while knowing it will never last.
From the highest mountains to the bottom of the oceans vast.
We are but specs in time , to us climbing Everest is quite an accomplishment.
Men send rockets in to space, we look for new civilizations to dominate .
Trillions of stars twinkle in the nights sky burning bright .
A black whole is their ultimate fate, swallowing up all that is light.
Like a shooting start sailing though the sky at night.
We can not outlast father time , try as we might.
