in #tv7 years ago

Good day Steemians,

Long time no see…. Busy week ;) But here I am, talking about another of our favorite TV Show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Buffy is an american TV Show that we can consider being a « urban fantasy », created by Joss Whedon in 1997. Yes… 1997 already 20 years, seems impossible but it is!
In order to make things sharp, it tells us the story of Buffy Summers interpreted by Sarah Muchelle Gellar, a vampire slayer from a long line of « chosen ones », chosen to fight against the evil forces, especially the vampires and the demons.
Like the ones before her, she benefits from the experience from her « observer ». He is in charge of guiding and training her, but despite her predecessors she has a circle of close friends that help her in her adventures, and fighting beside her.

The TV show was diffused on Warner Bros from march 10th, 1997 to May 20, 2003. It has became a success from day one, attracting between 4 and 6 millions at each episode. Buffy is an « old time » TV Show in a way that we have a basic general story line from the first episode to the last one, but if you miss an episode, that would be less tragic than missing one of Game of Thrones. You would still understand and enjoy the show ;)
But you will notice that it was the case on the first two seasons, but from the third season it began more and more axed on the general intrigue, and getting more and more captivating.

Still, Buffy the Vampire Slayer has become a model from numerous other Show, the « teen » TV Show becoming more and more fashionable. It was one of the first show to generate the creation of numerous derivative products, like comic books, books, and video games. It also generated a large number of fan community, and was many many times nominated on Emmy Awards and Golden Globes.

Just for your personal information, the music of the beginning of TV Show is interpreted by the group Nerf Herder. This group was chosen by Whedon (the director of the show) on the suggestion of one of the actress of the show: Alyson Hannigan. I am pretty sur that if you saw the Show, you remember the organ starting to play and the wolf howl right on it… I knew it! ;)

Most of the show took place in Santa Monica, near Los Angeles, but for your curiosity, the scenes that takes place from the Sunnyvale Highschool were in fact shot in Torrance High School in the city of Torrance;) Concerning the Sunnyvale University, because they grew up on the show too… It was shot in UCLA.

But enough of long words stories, let’s talk about the actors of the show, and the actress, who I fell in love many many times in a row during my teenage years.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, AKA Buffy Summers

I will kill anyone who say anything wrong about my early year love. Oh yes I assume it with great pride. I fell in love over and over of Sarah… Who wouldn’t?
She is the center of the whole TV Show, the Vampire Slayer. She started in high school, and what a burden to discover you are actually the « chosen one » to protect mankind from evil forces and vampires. She has mystical powers, and a overwhelming strength to fight them.
In the first episode, you will see that she tries to get off her duty of Vampire Slayer, but her destiny will soon getting overwhelming and she won’t have many options left for long. Well, she has bad luck… She moved to Sunnydale, which is only a hell’s mouth, baaaaaad luck ;)

Nicholas Brendon, alias Alexander Harris

He is one of the most important character of the show, he appears in each and every episode I think, or maybe one or two not, but I am not even sure, I will check! He is the funny guy, but not from his joke, from his being! He is clumsy, and always pot both feet in the plate, which ends up with him being quite funny after all, even in the most desperate situations. He has the role of the faithful friend and brave too even though he has no special power at all. He is definitely used as the comical instrument of the first two seasons, but become more and more mature and get everybody’s respect in the late show. After all without any spoil… he managed to save the world!

Alyson Hannigan, AKA Willow Rosenberg

Well, I have to admit, she is my favorite one, no doubt. But not for her beauty, god I hope she will never read this line, but for her character. She is Sarah’s best friend, and the only one present in all of the episode all through the seasons. She first is presented as a brilliant student with very few self confidence, but she slowly but surely leave that role in order to become one very powerful witch. Her addiction to magic, becoming one of the major axis of the last two seasons were she goes from good to evil to good again….
I love this actress, she is gorgeous and play wonderfully. She is fun, well the typical person I would love to pass an evening with (and here I hope she will read THIS line :P). But I love her in this role and the many many many others she has on movie screens, and other Tv Shows.

David Boreanaz, alias Angel

I will go quickly over him, maybe because I am jealous of him being the big love of Buffy… but just maybe!
Just kidding, he is a good actor, and playing another TV Show named Angel an original spin-off of the show. He plays a vampire, but with a particularity, he has got a soul… which is a curse for a vampire… They live a long long life, or death… As you wish to call it ;)
Great actor, nothing much to say, great in other show like Angel, Bones, love the guy!

James Marsters, alias Spike

Spike did not appear before the Fourth season, or was it the third? No I think the fourth. The blond decolorated vampire renown for having killed two slayers. He was THE bad guy at first, but really quickly he became a star of the public watching the show and the director changed his destiny. He became one of the main character from season 4 till the end. And he went from the bad guy to the role of the anti- hero, falling in love with Buffy, getting back his soul to prove this love to buffy.

Well, you like old school TV Show, you love beautiful women, you love vampires, you love TV Show? Well you have to take a look at Buffy The Vampire Slayer. You just have to, it is a classic of the kind.

Hope you enjoy this review guys.

Cheers,
