Bob's Burgers and South Park lead the pack in watchable holiday episodes.

I've gotta say, of my favorite animated shows, Bob's Burgers and South Park have had the most consistently watchable holiday episodes -- at least for an irreverent jackass like me.

Bob's Burgers clearly excels with the Thanksgiving episodes. Bob's love for the holiday, and his excitement and ambition to try to better himself with the meal every year has led to some great stories. Their Christmas episodes aren't as consistently strong; but, they avoid getting too cute.

Obviously, The Simpsons' first episode as a stand-alone series was a Christmas episode, and it was good. Since then, their Christmas episodes, to me, have mostly been the episodes that you bite the bullet and watch, while you look forward to the next week.

South Park has had a couple of crappy Christmas episodes, not all involving Mr. Hanky; still, brilliant episodes like Woodland Critter Christmas and Red Sleigh Down make up for the few stinkers. Otherwise, South Park has kept a good track record.

But, yeah...just like the rest of you, I've become accustomed to schmaltzy stories about the "true meaning of Christmas" rehashed over and over. So, it's refreshing to see Jesus and Santa with machine guns taking down a terrorist cell, or a bunch of adorable, furry creatures plotting to bring forth the antichrist.

At least it's creative.
